Match 9: Bangladesh vs NewZealand - ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 Post Match Summary

 The best team has won the match among both the sides.

It was the ICC Cricket Men’s World Cup 2019, the 9th match had happened among the 2015 WC Quarter-finalist Bangladesh vs the runner-up of the 2015 WC tournament who is more other than New Zealand. Both the teams have kick-started their 2019 World Cup tournament with a win in their 1st match. The toss was won by the New Zealand Captain Kane Williamson asked the Bangla tigers to bat 1st at Oval, London by 1:30 pm the local time. The match was scheduled as a Day & Night (D/N) match.

It was actually the 2nd match on June 5th, as the match between India and South Africa was already taking place at Southhampton in the morning. When Bangladesh batsmen were asked to bat 1st it was, the well experienced Tamim Iqbal and the young Soumya Sarkar who opened the innings and made a positive start as Soumya Sarkar went from the middle for quick 25 runs which includes 3 fours when Bangladesh were 45 for 1 in 8.3 overs.
Right after Sowmya Sarkar, it was then Tamim who followed his opening pair as he got rid in 24 off 38 balls with 3 boundaries under his belt. Then came the World’s no.1 all-rounder in ODIs who none other than Shakib Al Hasan who made solid knock of 64 in 68 balls with 7 well-timed boundaries. Except the wicket-keeper batsmen Musfiqur Rahim who stood along with Shakib to make 50 partnership which was the highest partnership of the innings rest, no other Bangladesh batsmen stood comfortably to bring a mammoth total. The NewZealand pacer Matt Henry who was exceptional on the match to dismiss 4 wickets against Bangladesh. Matt was accompanied by Trent Boult who picked 2 for 44 and Lockie Ferguson who picked 1 for 40 in their complete 10 overs spell. Colin de Grandhomme and Mitchel Santner who picked1 wicket each conceded a decent economic spell. Except, James Neesham who went expensive at a bowling average of 12 rest all the other bowlers went under 5. This made the Black Caps to file only a total of 244 runs for the loss of all the 10 wickets in 49.2 overs.

When the Black Caps were asked to chase, this time the opening pair hardly fail to contribute as, Martin Guptill who made 25 off 24 balls with 3 boundaries and a massive along with Colin Munro who also made 24 runs off 34 balls with again 3 boundaries. and a massive. After the openers lost their wickets it was the skipper Kane Williamson who came at no.3, batted solidly to reach 40 runs off a steady 72 balls supported by the inform batsman Ross Taylor who reached his 48th ODI fifty. With Ross and the skipper Kane’s brilliant century partnership brought NewZealand to win the 2nd match of their successful World Cup Campaign. Though, the pair carried towards the victory each one of them at least, fell short to carry till the winning runs. Ross Taylor made 82 off 91 balls with 9 fours he timed. After their (Taylor & Williamson) wickets have gone the Kiwis made their winning runs in their 48th over only. The Bangladesh bowlers Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Shakib Al Hasan and Mosaddek Hossain picked 2 wickets each to trouble the Black Caps as they did not reach the target of 245 that easily. The Bangladesh Captain Mashrafe Mortaza was quite expensive as his bowling was failed to click this time. Thus, the NewZealand tailenders Mitchel Santer made a handy knock by 17 off 12 and with Matt Henry’s stand reached NewZealand to win as they made 248 for the loss 8 wickets in 47.1 overs.
