First Innings :

The Afghanistan bowlers who did not allow the Bangladesh batsmen to go with a flow restricted with some important breakthroughs. As Mujeeb Ur Rahman was their pick of the bowlers who picked a 3 wicket-haul and gave 39 runs in his complete 10 overs span. The Afghan captain Gulbadin Naib who took 2 wickets for 56 with a maiden also supported team. It was Mohammad Naib and Dawlat Zadran picked 1 wicket each. Second Innings :

It was not an easy target to chase 263 runs and it is not easy to chase against a team like Bangladesh. The Afghan skipper Gulbadin Naib along with his partner Rahmat Shah made a good start as the partnership built for 49 runs. After Rahmat Shah who went on for 24 runs off 35 balls with 3 fours included it was Hashmatullah Shahidi who went early for 11 off 31 balls. Senior players like Ashar Afghan and Mohammad Nabi did not contribute with the bat as they went for 20 and a duck (0) respectively. After the skipper Naib’s 47 runs knock off 75 runs with 3 fours included no other Afghanistan batsmen contributed for the chase. It was Samiullah Shinwari who fought till the end as a no out batsman as he missed his World Cup fifty in just 1 run. His 49 unbeaten knock includes 3 fours and 1 six. It was Shakib Al Hasan who was just superb with the bat also carried his form with the ball to take a fiver. He gave 29 runs by picking up a 5 wicket haul in his 10 over spell. Shakib was supported by Mustafiqur Rahman who picked 2 while Mohammad Saifuddin and Mosaddek Hossain picket 1 each. Thus the Afghans were all out for 200 runs in 47 overs.



Man of the Match (MOM): It was undoubtedly Shakib Al Hassan who made a half-century and a 5 wicket haul grabbed the Man of the Match award.

Records: Shakib Al Hasan is the 1st player to reach 1000 runs in World Cups for Bangladesh and only the 19th player to achieve this foot.

Shakib is the 2nd player who made a half-century and a 5 wicket-haul next to Yuvraj who made it back in 2011 WC.

Shakib Al Hasan is the only cricketer in the history of World Cups who took 10 wickets and 400 plus runs.
