The captain Morgan who had the strike rate of 200 right from the start finally department for 148 runs in just 77 balls. His century came in just 57 balls which was the 4th fastest to reach. Except for the spinner Mujeeb Ur Rahman who went economical and the Afghan captain Gulbadin Naib and Dawlat Zadran who picked 3 wickets each no other Afghan bowlers did not contribute much. Thus could not enter the 400 runs club in just 3 runs as they made 397 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in 50 overs.

Second Innings :

The mammoth target of 398 was not that easy to Chas down. Guess Afghanistan would have lost their hope in the 1st innings itself. The opener Noor Ali Zadran went without scoring by facing 7 balls. Along with skipper then came Rahmat Shah who stood a 48 runs partnership. After the dismissal of the captain Gulbadin Naib for 37 off 28 balls with 4 fours and a six. After the dismissal of Rahman Shah who was also 4 runs short of 50. Then came Hashmattullah Shahidi who made a brilliant partnership 94 runs. After the dismissal Hashmattuh Shahidi who went for 76 off 100 balls that includes 5 fours and 2 sixes. It was Asghar Afghan who supported the partnership as he made 48 balls 44 runs which includes 2 sixes and 3 fours. With team, England’s destructive bowling performance made the Afghan batsmen to never settle down. It is Jofra Archer and Adil Rashid took 3 wickets each while Mark Wood took 2. Thus England won by 150 runs.



Man of the Match (MOM): The Man of the Match went to the England captain Eoin Margon for his extraordinary effort of 148 runs.

Records: This win of 150 runs margin is England’s 3rd biggest victory in the history of World Cup.

The captain Eoin Morgan registered the new world record of hitting maximum no of sixes in an innings which 17.

England holds of record the most sixes by a team in WC and 3rd in ODIs which is 33.

Eoin Morgan registered his highest score in ODI and WC of 148 runs by that knock he registered his 13th ODI hundred and 1st in World Cups.
