When “Black Caps” made the Afghans to bat 1st it was not Mohammad Shahzad this time, as it was the opening batsman Noor Ali Zadran who was playing 1st debut match in ODI well as in World Cup. The Afghan openers Hazratullah Zazai and Noor Ali Zadran took a good start and put up the only 50 plus runs partnership of the 1st innings. After Hazratullah Zazai’s dismissal by 34 runs off 28 balls which includes 5 boundaries and a six the Afghans were 66 for 1 in 10.5 overs. Right after Zazai walked from the middle it was his opening pair Noor Ali Zadran who made 31 runs off 38 balls on his debut which includes 5 boundaries who also followed his path. Except the South-paw batsman, Hashmatullah Shahidi rest all the other Afghan batsmen were gone in single-digit scores. As they fail to face the New Zealand pace attack.
The 24-year-old Hashmatullah Shahidi played a matured knock 59 off 99 balls which includes 9 boundaries, was supported by the rest other Afghanistan batting line-up. It was James Neesham who was in the top lot the list who picked his 1st ever five-wicket-haul in both ODIs and WC. While the other end was supported by Lockie Ferguson who destructed 4 Afghan batsmen. Surprisingly Matt Henry and Trent Boult did not take a single wicket. The right arm medium pacer, the batting all-rounder Colin de Grandhomme also took 1 wicket in his 4 overs. Thus, Afghanistan was wind upped for 172 runs in 41.1 overs.

The “Black Caps” who yet again dominated devastating innings started their chase with Martin Guptill and Curlin Munro. Guptill who faced his 1st ball gone for a golden duck bowled by Aftab Alam who was caught at the backward point by Najibullah Zadran. After the 1st wicket then, came the skipper Kane Williamson who was paired up with Colin Munro on the other end. Munro who made 22 off 24 balls was caught in the 3rd man region by Hamid Hassan bowled a bouncer by Aftab Alam. Munro contributed 3 boundaries for his team. Kane Williamson with Ross Taylor made a match-winning partnership of 89 runs. As Ross went at the end of the finishing mark for 48 off 52 deliveries with 6 boundaries and a six. Finally, Williamson’s 79 off 99 balls with 9 fours brought New Zealand to chase an easy 173 runs target in 32.1 overs. The skipper Kane Williamson registered his 38th ODI fifty and also he registered his 1st World Cup fifth as a skipper. Expect the Afghan bowler Aftab Alam who only picked all the 3 wickets of New Zealand rest all the other bowlers did not support their team to win.
